There’s a form for THAT?
By Stephen Bloom | November 23, 2009
Really need to apologize but can’t find the words? Maybe you’ve been putting off one of those healthy but awkward Matthew 18 one-on-one confrontations? Or maybe you just owe someone a little gratitude? Don’t sweat it! Now there’s a form for that, thanks to the quirky folks over at The Bureau of Communication.
Available fill-in forms include Official Notices of Formal Apology, Airing of Grievance (Festivus is in the air?), and Statement of Gratitude. And more forms are in the works, including a Request for Compensation, all apparently inspiring a soon-to-be released book of Formal Notices as well.

While I think the forms at the Bureau are designed more for fun than actual use (although I suppose under the right circumstances they just might work), they really do underscore the need for forthright communication. How many painful lawsuits could be avoided if more of us simply dared to issue a timely and direct formal apology for our mistakes? How many escalating conflicts could be nipped in the bud if more of us had the guts to air our grievances directly before things started spinning out of control? How many of our relationships would be strengthened if more of us remembered to express our gratitude to one another?

I'm a lawyer, but I don't want your business. I want to help you avoid the misery of lawsuits and lawyers. Really.

Is this form really exists? Or is this really just for fun???
